KRAMER Focus 3000 - $350
Like a strat on steroids, this Kramer Focus 3000 has serious tone, feel, and agression that can't be ignored. Built for shredders and hard rockers alike, this model (made in approximately 1986) features an HSS pickup configuration, coil tap, fast maple neck, Floyd Rose tremolo bridge, locking nut, and the classic, instantly recognizable pointy Kramer headstock. It also comes with a hardshell case, so its gig-ready right out the door. You'll be all ready to tear up the stage, now if only you had a nice Marshall stack to go with it...
Marshall MG100HDFX 100-watt head and MG412a 4x12 cab - $550
This stack screams "rock". The 100-watt head features two channels (Clean and Overdrive), both of which have two different modes to take you anywhere from "pretty" cleans to classic-rock-esque crunch to tasty bluesy overdrive to full-on metal. In addition to having an FX loop, the head comes built in with four editable effects plus reverb which is controlled independently. The angled cabinet features 4 12" Celestion speakers which produce a crisp, clear sound. In addition, this stack comes with a footswitch, which makes it easy to change channels or turn effects on/off while playing live.
Breedlove Discovery Dreadnought (Cutaway-electric) - $370
Larry Breedlove originally worked for Taylor guitars before starting his own company, which is now gaining a reputation of its own comparable to Taylor. This Discovery guitar has a mahogany, satin-finished neck which is incredibly easy to play, as well as a comfortable pinless bridge. The overall tone of the guitar can be described as dark, with a smooth low end and articulate highs. Fishman Isys-T electronics accurately reproduce this sound once plugged into an amp as well. And despite being a dreadnought, the guitar is remarkably comfortable to play.
